More Fake News!!!

Okay, now I have your attention.  The non-deplorables among you probably spilled your green tea in an effort to quickly open the blog to see the latest media whining.  The rest of you who I would assume are deplorables probably spilled your beers trying to close your computers and check your Twitter accounts for the real "truth".  Anyway, I have to confess that I received some criticism for my last blog about Pete and Cookie's 50th Wedding Anniversary.  The criticism comes from non-other than Cookie!!!  It seems that when she pulls up the blog on her phone, Pete's picture shows up at the top and not hers!  Now I honestly do not read the blog on a phone, I mean who would?  Well, I checked and she is correct.  This was not some nefarious intent on my part but simply how the software pulled the picture and brought it to the top of the page.  Now I cannot say for sure that some person or robot at Blogger did not scan the pictures and decide that Pete was better looking or more likely to draw readers attention, or perhaps they just did not like Cookie.  Either way, I would like to formally apologize to Cookie for her second billing to Pete.

And to make up for it....

How does that look on your phone?

Happy 50th Anniversary Paul and Kathy (Pete and Cookie)

Yes, that is right, 50 years of blissful wedlock for Paul and Kathy.  That is wedlock, not headlock!  On January 27th these love struck kids celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  In honor of this significant milestone, we had them over for dinner and what we call...

THE NEWLYWED GAME, 50 YEAR ADDITION!!!

This is how it works, we asked each contestant a questions, then compared answers to see how they get along and view the world, or at least their slice of it.  WARNING:  While I have their answers in quotes, I may have tweaked them a little bit to either make them legible, or add some much needed humor.

Question #1.  Where did you first meet?
Pete: "We met at McDonalds.  I had the Big Mac, fries and a coke...."
Dave: "Okay Pete, enough about your diet so to speak... "
Kathy: "Well, we started as pen pals.  He was stationed in Norfolk in the Navy.  I just love a man in uniform.  My friend had several sailors she was writing so she hooked me up.  At first Paul and another sailor wrote me, but I landed on Paul.  Not the way you think I mean when I say "Landed".  We eventually met at McDonalds".
Dave: "Thank you Kathy.  Your friend sounds sort of promiscuous."

Questions #2.  What were your first thoughts when you saw your future spouse for the first time?
Pete: "She sure is cute.  Is she going to finish that burger?"
Kathy:  "He looks good in his Navy blues...  Mmmm.... Baby!"
Dave: "Okay Kathy, simmer down."

Questions #3.  Where did you go on your first official date?
Pete:  "White Castle.  You know I don't like their burgers as much as McDonalds... No wonder they never caught on?"
Dave: "Okay Paul, Kathy?
Kathy: " Our first official date was at the hotel by the airport."
Dave: "Okay, okay... next question!!!"

Questions #4.  Was your first kiss French or non-French?  For the record, I asked tongue or no tongue, but this offended the delicate, Kathy....
Pete: "Tongue, I mean French.  Speaking of French, the fries are also better at McDonalds".
Kathy: "French of course!"

Questions #5.  What movie Star looks most like your spouse when you first met?
Pete: "Hepburn.  Kate,or Kathy, or something like that"
Kathy: "Marlon Brando, before he became grotesquely fat"
Paul in Navy Blues.  Mmm... baby!

Question #6.  Which of your children were planned and which were surprises?
Paul: "The boys were planned, Julie was a surprise.  Such a wonderful surprise!"
Kathy: "The boys were sort of planned...but our Julie was a surprise.  What a beautiful baby!"

Question #7.  Which song title best describes your marriage and why?
Paul: "Ring around the Rosie.  You know, ashes, ashes we all fall down"
Dave: "Come on Paul, seriously..."
Paul: "Two for the Road.  It reminds me of our life together"
Kathy:  "The song Home. Because that is where Paul would be each night."

Question #8.  Who is your favorite child?  Son-In-Laws are not to be included...

Kathy:  "Are you posting this on the blog?  Will everyone read it?"Dave: "Yes."
Kathy:  "I love all my children the same"
Paul: "Ummmm...I love all my children the same.  I sure like spending time with Julie"

Question #9.  What is your favorite memory of your 50 years of marriage?
Paul:  "The birth of our children and Mom keeping us on track"
Dave:  "On track?  What does that mean?"
Paul:  "I have no idea"
Kathy: "You are still including this in the blog, correct?
Dave:  "Yes"
Kathy:  "Our wedding day and the birth of our children"

Question #10!!!!!  What advice would you give to others to help them achieve 50 years of marriage?
Paul:  " Never give up.  Be thankful to God for what you've been blessed with"
Kathy: "Never give up.  There will be peaks and valleys because marriage is not always easy.  One day at a time"

Congratulations Paul and Kathy on 50 years!  Here's to another 50 years, God help us!
Now if you will indulge me, here are some pictures from over the years...
